At times, it seems as though we are bound by our words. Life is simple but too much promises that are left unfulfilled makes it seem hard. Today, I recall some of the promises that I never made. It is for the good of everyone to say only what one can do even while under pressure.
1. To
die.
I did
not promise to die for anything. Be it relationship, object or money. A lot of
people take their lives simply because a relationship they were into failed. It
shouldn’t be.
2. Book
I did not
promise to be bookish but a lot of times, I find myself flipping through books.
Maybe, it is because of my love for knowledge.
3. Food
I did
not promise to always be the one to cook my foods! Looking back now, I can say
that I have spent much money on canned foods than on cooking my own foods. You
know, it is said that as one makes one’s
bed, so shall one lie. Maybe, I am not supposed to make my own bed in terms of
cooking because I might not be comfortable on it.
4. Sugar.
Of a
truth, I never promised to fill my stomach with sugary substances but right
now, it seems to be so!
5. Documents.
Some
documents contain serious information whose contents I am not supposed to spill
because they are confidential but due to the nature of my job, I am exposed to
them. It’s not my fault, I did not promise to keep a secret forever.
6. Travelling.
I cannot
really say if I am a traveler or not but I don’t stay one place for long yet I
never promised to walk round the world.
7. Away
I never
promised to walk away but people’s attitudes usually push me into doing so. I
rather walk away than to stay and cause troubles! I can walk away from
troubles, I can walk away from poverty and I can walk away from barrenness by
just avoiding same.
8.
imiano.
My name
is imiano. I find it difficult to believe that some people think that I have
changed. No, I haven’t. I am still the imiano and I did not promise to change
that name.
