No one can easily forget that year in which we ran helter-skelter all in the name of avoiding Corona virus, a disease which came in from China and spread out throughout the nations except for the ones that were not heard of. It was a pandemic after all. They nicknamed it Covid-19 because it started towards the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in China.
But here
in my country, some people called it Covik1-9 while some people jovially said
that it does not exist. Which is an expensive joke by the way !
Far from
the social distancing, hand washing with sanitizers and frequent lockdowns that
the Government recommended also came the showdown that followed not long after
the first and second phases of the lockdown that rocked the country as a result
of the Corona virus pandemic. I am a Walkaholic. So, I am supposed to know
this. There was a protest ! with the youths clamouring for a better tomorrow in
an environment that is void of confrontations and unnecessary harassments. Which
is not bad by the way but amongst the youths came the thieves who went about
looting and vandalizing people’s properties all in the name of carrying out
peaceful protests which is uncalled for !
I do not
know who the Sponsors of the protests are neither do I know who the Looters are
but one thing that I am sure of is that Nigeria deserves a better face in the
international system of things while things are being put in order here!
