HOW TO UNDERSTAND YOURSELF

At times, we tend to take away the light from ourselves when we choose to judge others not minding the fact that they have weaknesses that they are working on while we also should work on ourselves. The following are the best ways to understand yourself:

1.       Check where you are

This would better help you to understand the kind of person that you are because you cannot stay for too long in a place that profits you nothing. Of all the places to be in the world so far, your comfort zone is the worst.

2.       Check who your friends are

At times, we tend to become so attached to people that what they do would probably turn out to be what we are going to do. To properly understand yourself, better tell yourself the truth by studying those people that you are walking with to know if they’re the right kind of people to be with.

3.       Who is your role model?

I do not have to ask the question of whether you have one because almost everyone does. The person that you look up to in the society can play a vital role in your life. Either for good or for bad, whichever way, it is up to you to decide.

4.       Check the meaning of your name

I know that you might wonder where this one is coming from but no one knows tomorrow. Our people say that one’s name follows one. So, you are more likely to behave how you are called. If your name is a stubborn one then there you go, if it is a strong one then the same thing applies and if it is a weak one then you might consider changing it. For your own good, answer names that bring fortunes to you not bad luck, if there is anything like luck.

5.       Check where you want to be

It is only when you are drunk that you would dream of being a place that is worse than where you’re now. Obviously, you are not drunk. So, you can read the handwriting on the wall clearly. Foresee a better future for yourself because where you are now can be just a ladder to use and climb to the next level.

6.       Check your childhood pictures

That would go a long way in helping you to understand who you are.

7.       Listen to yourself

Before you talk to people with a harsh voice, listen to yourself. Does that describe the type of person that you are? If you are spoken to in that manner, will you like it? I am not even suggesting that you should look into the mirror because for all that I know, a mirror does not tell who harsh or smooth that your voice is. So, make a video coverage at times or make an audio recording of your voice for easy recognition. Do not be lost in the crowd but let your voice be heard!

 

8.       Check your primary or nursery school report

If you have gone for in life that you no longer understand who you are then you must bend down and pick something and that thing is an early childhood report of you from an academic professional who knows you very well as at them. It could be that of your form master, principal or class monitor, whichever one, just read the comments that they made on your performance.

9.       Assess yourself

It is not bad if you do so. At least, it would give you an inkling as to whether you are going forward in life or backward.

10.   Improve

If you find out that there are loopholes in your life then you need to do so because life itself is like a written computer program codes. At times, you have to ‘debug’ in order to achieve maximum impacts!

11.   Respect others

You have no other option than to do so because you actually do not know what they are passing through in life.

12.   Keep a diary

A day-to-day recording of your activities would help you to understand the kind of person that you are because a written note does not lie excepted if it has been tempered with.

13.   Write a book

I am not talking about selling a novel yet; just write a book.

14.   Ask questions

Our people say that the inability to ask question before eating brings about the inability to stay sick for long before giving up the ghost. If there is anything that you are confused about then just ask question. In life, nobody is an island of knowledge and it is widely believed that an iron sharpens an iron. So, I cannot say otherwise.

15.   Check where you have been.

It all boils down to who you have always been; if you are not ok with your present status then do well to change it.

I must say in addition to these that the list was not penned down in any particular other. So, you can suit yourself.

TWO THINGS THAT YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT I DO NOT KNOW YET


In my own opinion, here are the two things that you already know now that I probably do not know now.

1.       How to be lazy

Of all the attributes that I wouldn’t want to be known for, this one is the most. For crying out loud, I am the Imiano and I do not do sitting down for a living. I work, so you too can join me.

2.       How to give up

With the Imiano, it is impossible to do so but I have found out that some people are still in the habit of giving up when they are assigned to one department or the other to fulfill one or two things. You shouldn’t be like that. Always strive to accomplish a task because consistency is the key.

 

In the meanwhile, I am hoping for a better tomorrow!

COUNTING OUR LOSSES

 When he started that blog, I knew that it was too specific but I didn’t say it to him because I knew that it was never my business. He did not seek my counsel neither did he seek my inputs. So, there was no need talking with him.

 

I wouldn’t blame him either because my services are not free because I offer professional ones and I always try my best to deliver promptly. Mind you that following the crowd is not even the main issue here because at times; you would follow the wrong set of people and that is not good for you.

 

Avoid doing things in order to please people. None of them would be there with you when you finally enter six feet. Chances are that you can start now to please God instead because Him alone owns you and you are His vessel especially if you have known The Way to proceed.

 

Nobody knows what would happen after now but those people who have planned themselves well and have had a better future awaiting  them would have a lofty story to tell. This is not rocket science neither am I talking magic. One thing is certain: you cannot eat where you did not sow !

 

So, work hard today and enjoy tomorrow.

WASH YOUR EYES WITH CLEAN WATER !

One of the statements that I can remember from the last lectures in school in the last years of my stay is this: Wash your eyes with clean water.

 

I am a Science student. So, it is not unbecoming for me to hear such a thing as it is one of the instructions that we receive while working in a typical laboratory.

 

Today, we are no longer in the university as a result of what is called ‘graduation’ but the whole world has become our classroom with life as our university and with experience as our teacher, which is the best by the way.

 

One may wonder what is the need for adhering to the instructions again since that we have graduated from the university but in reality, there are situations that you cannot easily assess if you do not open your eyes well! And by that, you must pass it through your mindset in order to know what kind of information that you can accept into your life and also to know what kind of information that you can reject from gaining access into your life. In so doing, your mind is a kind of clean water that can determine what comes in and what goes out of you depending on whether you accept it or not.

 

When next you go out, wash your eyes with clean water! Critical issues require that but not the Bible. Always believe it but others, test!

2020 AND THE THIEVES AMONG US: NIGERIA, A CASE STUDY.

No one can easily forget that year in which we ran helter-skelter all in the name of avoiding Corona virus, a disease which came in from China and spread out throughout the nations except for the ones that were not heard of. It was a pandemic after all. They nicknamed it Covid-19 because it started towards the end of 2019 in Wuhan, a city in China.

But here in my country, some people called it Covik1-9 while some people jovially said that it does not exist. Which is an expensive joke by the way !

 

Far from the social distancing, hand washing with sanitizers and frequent lockdowns that the Government recommended also came the showdown that followed not long after the first and second phases of the lockdown that rocked the country as a result of the Corona virus pandemic. I am a Walkaholic. So, I am supposed to know this. There was a protest ! with the youths clamouring for a better tomorrow in an environment that is void of confrontations and unnecessary harassments. Which is not bad by the way but amongst the youths came the thieves who went about looting and vandalizing people’s properties all in the name of carrying out peaceful protests which is uncalled for !

 

I do not know who the Sponsors of the protests are neither do I know who the Looters are but one thing that I am sure of is that Nigeria deserves a better face in the international system of things while things are being put in order here!

NIGERIA & THE PRESENT GENERATION: A PRESENT PREDICAMENT

Insofar as we are bottered about the calibre of people that we have as our leaders today, one may begin to wonder if the present generation is any better compared to what has been and what would be. In fact, Nigeria is very very like that because there is no reason why anbody should not let his or her voice be heard except if the person does not know what he or she is saying !


In my country, it is an unwritten law that freedom of speech is allowed but freedom after speech is still a subject of great debate but what can the common man do? So, I speak up.


If it has gotten to a point where somebody would stop me along the way and volunteer to tutor me on how to dupe people, then I am no longer part of this whole thing !


HOW TO REMAIN POOR IN LIFE

 I have come to notice that not everybody wants to succeed in life. I do not know about you but I definitely  want to. The following are the most relevant ways to remain poor forever.

1. Reject knowledge

Once you are done with the ability to gain knowledge, then you have started dying already. Life is an eternal university. So, there is no point saying that you can be done with it sooner. In fact, even after death, you graduate into a life of the unseen beings. So, there is no point saying that you're a graduate of the University of life, rather, everybody is a student here. 

2. Ignore Opportunities

Both the poor and the rich have something in common and that is the ability to come across opportunities. At least, we know that every single human being comes across one per day. Evening the breath that you now have is what gives you the opportunity to live! But do you know what baffles me the most? It is the fact that some people choose to ignore theirs either through ignorance or as a result of lack of awareness or total complacency. Whichever one, I want you to know that the word, "poor" itself stands for Passing Over Opportunities Repeatedly.


3. Disbelieve yourself

I will not stop you but be rest assured that by the time you start losing faith in your ability to do something worthwhile, doublemindedness starts coming in and with that, you can hardly make it in life.

With these few points of mine, I believe that I have been able to convince you that it is not good to be poor but if you still think otherwise, then you're on your own. In fact, O.Y.O is the case.

PROMOTING IGBO LANGUAGE

 Yes, that is what I want to do. I am going to drop some adages, sayings or proverbs that are widely known with the Igbo people. 

The following are good examples: 

1. Anu gbala taa, echi bu nta

Used to say that when a target (be it an animal, a goal or an opportunity) escapes today, tomorrow is another day for hunting. 


2. O di ka O di kpodo ahia, O di ka O di E goru ya. 

Birds of the same feathers flock together. 


3. Ihe Onye kporu nkita ya ka O (nkita ya) ga-azaru ya!

Whatsoever name that you give to your pet (dog), that is what your dog would answer. 

It also means that if you neglect yourself, people around would neglect you along the line. 


As a son of the soil, I can go on and on but for now, you can explore for other meanings. 


HOW A SINGLE MISTAKE CAN TURN INTO AN ERROR

 Without the ability to erase mistakes on daily basis, one's life would be filled with tattered patches if viewed as a page from above. Everyone has got one weakness or the other but the inability to recognize and set this in order is what brings problem. 


I have once said that the only thing that most human beings share in common is the ability to breathe. Apart from that, there are various differences! There are times people fail to recognize the fact that they are taking the wrong steps only to realize it when it is already late but that is not where it ends; some people would still claim to know their rights! 


The ability to offend is in everybody but the ability to reconcile is not. Some are hot tempered. So, know how you thread around people especially if they're of questionable characters but do not be the reason for their anger because in fury, anything can happen. 


Talking about anger, it is not good but you can avoid heated arguments if they are not bearing any good fruits. A mistake turns into an error when the offender has already realized it and still fails to make amends. 

NOW OR NEVER

 Succeed or leave it. The choice is yours! What you decide to do is based on where you want to see yourself tomorrow! If you're Ok being at the lowest ebb of life, then there is no need to climb further but if you are not, then you must aspire high. 


No one ever says that every door opens only at the first knock on its surface. Some take up to three or four ( hard ) knocks before they could respond positively. So, be patient. Life is lived once. Agreed but no one person can live his or her whole life under 1 minute except the person who dies prematurely and that is not what I wish you! 


Every business requires time as well as capital in order to grow. Do not forget that even the seeds planted in the soil take much time in order to adapt to the environment and then grow. So, there is time for everything. Nature teaches that once harvest time comes, the mature fruits would ripe. Do not spend your time chasing shadows but learn to invest it wisely into profitable venture. 


Waiting is a good virtue if it is in accordance with what a person wants to achieve but when waiting turns into an excuse and a breeding ground for procrastination, then it must be avoided. 


Know what you want, go for it! 

I AM JUSTIFIED.

 If I tell you that you're at the verge of becoming a popular person, then there is no reason to doubt it because I know what I am saying.

Several years have passed, various challenges have come and gone yet we stand. Gidigbam is the sound you hear when you push somebody that is strong and that is how we stand.  We can't fall yakata but the prices of goods all ove the world can fall that way but you won't. 


After You, Na You. That is what we hear in the streets everyday but it is not bad. Everybody needs somebody but the processes have to be clean and void of compromise. If you are not ready to succeed, then do not try at all but if you are willing to succeed, then go all in.

JUDGE MATTERS WISELY

 You are permitted to do so. So long as you are at the helm of affairs. It is our responsibility to know what goes on around us but where it hurts, withdraw. 


Too many rumours are on the spread because those who are not qualified to look into matters did so. It is not everybody that is allowed to speak into your life. Whether they be good or bad words. The only way out is this: let only those people you trust look into your matter. 


There is a difference between instructions and suggestions. Instructions are meant to be carried out while suggestions can be looked into for considerations. Whether they're to be accepted or dropped are based on the recipient's way of judgement. 


Consider every opportunity that comes your way and choose the one that you would go for. It is not all that glitters that is gold. So, judge scenarios wisely before going into action but never judge a book by its cover. 

THINK FAST NOW !!

 Do not ever shy away from opportunities. I repeat, do not ever shy away from opportunities. And try not to shy away from the truth because truth is life and life is reality. 

Some opportunities come in such a way that you may not expect them. So, do not give up early. And don't mistake opportunities for hardships when they come in disguise. What every normal human being would do is not the same thing as what every wise human being would do: choose to make the distinction. 


It is true that nothing worthwhile comes so easily but there is always something for the brave. Do not be a weakling. 

Stand upon your feet and think. You have something to offer. Just make it clear and the world would pay attention to you and with that, you can transmit your message! 

NEVER LOSE HOPE

 At times, I wonder what we would have been if troubles do not exist. Well, it would be a place of crystal clear peace but see what we have. Wars looming, problems, hunger, starvation, bribery and corruption, unwanted pregnancies, rumours and what have you? Yet it is someone's duty to solve those problems or better still, curb them. 


The world we live in has gone beyond what it used to be. If it were to be far back in the days, I wouldn't mind saying that you should just play along but considering our present predicament (as it were), I can only say that you should be conscious of any security risk around you because being safe is everybody's business. 

Come to think of it, have you wondered what the human brain does when there is problem (or the brain of every other animal for that matter) ? It goes into action: searching for every possible means to get out of the problem. At times, it could even stimulate some of your body parts to act quickly before you could know what is happening. Such a phenomenon is so quickly done that it is termed an involuntary action controlled by the brain and other nerves associated with it. A good example is when you touch a very hot object or when you step your foot on a needle. 

That is what the world needs now! The best brains should get down to work and pull us out of this mess before we could get caught in a web of total blackout! The good thing is that you can be part of this project. 


So long as you are not causing problems everywhere around you, every problem solved comes with a reward and you can charge people for your services. 

Stay cool, stay safe for it shall be well sooner or later, just don't lose hope! 

CONQUER YOUR FEARS

 This is one thing that everybody must do because it is not worth it. A lot of people who live in fear do so because they believe that anything can happen to them at anytime. 

It is not a big thing to know that the future is bright but if you think that it is otherwise, then you would have to make it because you are the architect of your own success. Except God helps you, no one else would but He can help you through the people that are  around you or those that are far away. 


This is the truth that you must know: don't go about begging for things that you have already possessed. Success is yours, do not doubt it. At times, you just need to come out boldly and make a request. You do not need to shout because you can actually get either yes or no to the request you make but whichever one, stick to your standard and improve on it. In case you are not satisfied with the answer that you get; you can make a request again. It doesn't matter how many times that you do that but so long as you get what you want, it is okay. Remember that a yes can turn to a no depending on how you present your request. So, be polite. 


Nobody owes you anything except the person that is indebted to you. So, never hesitate to say, "thank you" when you receive a thing that you're proud of. 


Resist pride in all aspects of your life but be humble because that is the only way that success comes. If you cannot ask for something; you cannot get something. 


Whatever happens to you comes as a lesson that needs to be learnt either by you or by the people around you but if you think that it is too much on you, then you can quit. But before you do that, remember that their is no reward for being a failure!

BUILD YOURSELF UP

 You certainly have to do so because in a country as ours where people leave the same fields where they are trained to excel and still go to other people's fields and do well, it is not surprising that competition is gradually creeping in because it is inevitable. 


The only thing that can be averted is a sad situation that is perceived on time and the only person that cannot fend for himself or herself is a parasite but I know that you are not one because everybody is created with an inward ability to do good. It is just that some people choose to ignore theirs. 


There is no way to explain the future except by saying that it is something that happens on its own but some people can engineer their future to work for their good depending on how they plan it. Planning is the key to success. So, there is no reason why you shouldn't build yourself up. 


If there is a task that you could not complete yesterday due to lack of knowledge, awareness or skills, sit down. Think on the best ways to complete it. If it requires training, go for it. Then go back to the task. I bet you, it would be easier this time around! Just don't give up. Keep climbing, one day you would get there. And in all, do not forget those people that helped you on your way to the top because one day, they would need you in one way or the other. Do not hesitate to lend a helping hand because no one knows where one would be tomorrow: only God knows. 

Give life a try if death seems inevitable. Give sleep a try if being fatigue comes your way and don't hesitate to jump if poverty gives way for wealth. There is nobody to be blamed if you miss all the opportunities that come your way. Learn how to catch one. 


On daily basis, help others. If you don't have the ability to do so, then learn it! 

LIVE ABOVE CORRUPTION

 This is one of the vices that we have been saddled with these days that everybody has to fight because it is seen as a cankerworm that has eaten deep into the very fibric of our society. In no wise is corruption expected to go on it's own: it must be fought just as it's poverty counterpart. An idle mind is the devil's workshop but a hurtful gossip, who can help? 

At times, we hurt one another due to lack of the ability to assess our thoughts so as to look at what the results would be like. When dealing with humans, you must be careful but when dealing with yourself; you must be honest because you cannot lie to yourself no matter how you try! 


One of the questions that you must ask yourself and get the answer from the same is: am I doing the right thing? If the answer is no, then you must retrace your steps but if the answer is yes, then you can forge ahead. There is no need crying over spilt milk. Some memories are not worth keeping if they hurt. Some friends are not worth keeping if they are fake and some places are not worth going to if they can expose you to danger. A future with uncertainties is better that a past that is full of regrets. 


Do not joke with what will save you. You can live without being corrupt irrespective of who is practising otherwise. So long as you have a clean record, you can get to the top because it is widely believed that the person that takes off for a destination while running would still get to the same place with the person that takes off for the same place while walking ( only but at different times). Success is not by luck, it is by hard work. Celebrate it when it comes but do not impose your views on others especially when it is not working for them the same way that it is working for you. Life is lived in a jiffy but do not mix things up. 

Keep a clear mind and be able to explain yourself. Do not be a corrupt leader but try to lead by example. What you do to others is what you would get in return some day. So, expect them in folds if they're evil but if they are good, then relax and enjoy because there is a reward for every work that is done well. 

WORK IT OUT

 Results are better than complaints. People reward you for what they believe that you can do. See, there are different ways to kill a rat. If the knowledge that you have presently is not enough to get you to where you would want to be, don't discard it but update it so long as it is not wrong, it will go a long way. 


The cost of acquiring knowledge these days is going up and the cost of maintaining same is skyrocketing but in all, ignorance is not an excuse. Get attached to people that would teach you what you should know and also share the things that you would want others to learn from you because it is believed that iron sharpens iron. 


Permit me to say this louder than expected: you can work it out. Yes, you have the ability to do so. Excuses do not produce results but determination does. So, work it out. No matter how long it takes you to achieve your aim, it is a thing of joy to know that you can still have a breakthrough and the sweat buds that you produced during the working period are there to tell the success story. If you don't make both ends meet, you may have to retry.

At times, going back to work after a particular rest period can give a better result. Do not conclude yet that you are a failure untill you see the finishing line because the vacant seat at the top is meant for you! Just try and get there. All it requires is to put some more efforts. 

Nobody says that you have not tried! Keep knocking hard on the door of success, one day it would open. Nobody says that you are not man enough, just try a few more times and nobody says that you cannot make it in life, just give it your very best. 

Even difficult issues become rather easy when they are approached from the right direction. 

KEEP CLEAN HANDS

 I find it difficult to trust people when they have disappointed me once or twice. I may not be the only person that has noticed this but we can make the world a better place starting with ourselves. Chances are, we can still save the whole universe. Our world today lacks trust which is what every business, family or individual needs in order to succeed but because a lot of people have been disappointed by the same people that they trusted, the ability to trust people seems to be a thing of the past now but we can develop it if we choose to. 


The truth is, while in school, the learning curve of a course might span through four to six years but in reality, it spans through one's whole life! You cannot stop learning because once you do, you start dying. The inability to understand words, is a kind of decay. Some people are in big trouble today because the people that they were trying to explain things (as they are) to refused to understand. At times, people keep things to themselves because they believe that nobody can understand them. At times, pay attention. It is not all about shouting. Life itself is a lesson to be learnt, do not turn it into a joke because almost everyone has a story ! 

You can't be trusted if you are not a good person. So, always make it a point of duty to be honest and do not defraud anyone of their hard-earned monies, happiness or joy because of one trick or the other that you have learnt. Always learn to work for your own and the benefits therein would come to you and in so doing, you would have a story to tell. 

Do not feel envious when the people around you are making it and you seem not to be. One day, it will be your turn and I believe that that one day is almost here. 


The world presently is in need of good people to make it a better place, do not fail to be one. Keep your hands clean and always have a reason to be happy. In that way, God would be happy with you and mankind would celebrate you! 

COME OUT CLEAN !!

 No matter what happens in life, do not let it to leave you scattered because life as we know it is full of ups and downs but in all, God can uphold us. 


Different strokes for different folks, so they say but in reality, we have some things in common. We are humans and everybody deserves to be treated as one. Let us not begin to think that some people are unfortunate  because they deserve it. At times, wretchedness is caused by conditions. It is nobody's wish  to be poor but wherever you see poverty taking advantage of people, please try everything in your capacity to put an end to it but if you can't, then proffer a better solution that can help. Never hesitate to help people when it is in your power to do so but in all, be security conscious. 


We live in a world where anything can happen but do not be deterred from doing good as nothing can stop a person that has a good heart. If life challenges throw a punch at you, pick up your baton and defend yourself ! If life troubles come like water, better learn to swim through it. In all, stay conscious of who you are and always move forward. 

In life, only those people who know what they want always get them. Those who do not know what they want throw away the good things that they have in search of what is non-existent. 

Be thankful to God for what you have gotten but always go for the best because your best of days are yet to come. No matter how hard trouble knocks at your door, do not come out looking fearful.
